Ginny Keegan - Low Tide

Life as a painter began on the Beara Peninsula in Ireland a few years ago while leading a Writing Retreat for women with cancer. A watercolor workshop was also in process –I was invited to join and with that first stroke of vibrant color, a magical world opened. Now I’m known there as “the writer who came to write and left as a painter”

Travels in India, Tibet, Mexico, Ireland as well as beloved Maine, particularly Porter’s Landing where I lived for 10 years, are the source of continued inspiration. Painting these memories and combining them with the meditative practice of Proprioceptive Writing is key to the sense of well being and joy I find in the creative process; and vital to continuing good health as cancer survivor.

Studies in Ireland include work with Irish Artist Brian O’Sullivan of Eyeries and Rosemary Burns of Arc Designs in Connemara. Mexico winters offer studies at Bella Artes and Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende with accomplished local artists. U.S. studies include work with Jeanne Carbonnetti, Crow Gallery-Vermont, Maine’s Helen Warren of Creative Spiral Studio and colorist Stephen Quiller of Creede, Colorado.
